Galvanized Yankees

It's an interesting list of men and two on the list are actually Page Countians... Aleshire and Skelton. Most died of different illnesses…See More

Robert Moore replied to Michael Bell's discussion 'Mulligan Post 30, Winchester GAR'
It seems that the Handley Library in Winchester should have some information on the camp. I know they have a pretty good manuscript collection and a fair amount related to the Civil War. I used to know somebody up there, but he retired a few years…

Did some more "googling" on the Mulligan Post. 1) a 1925 book on Winchester states that the GAR Post was one of a few "extinct" fraternal organizations in the town by that date. 2) An interesting bill listed in the 1902…

Luray-Carlisle Reunion in the NY Times

I found this NY Times article from 2 July 1888 sometime last year. It indicates that the Luray-Carlisle reunions appear to be the first instances of Blue-Gray reunions after the war. Information like…Continue

The earliest record available on the Laconia family of Page County is the birth of Wade Laconia in Camden, New Jersey on September 30, 1827. Little is known of his parents, except that he was “of foreign parentage” (the obituary of Wade’s son, James Wade Laconia, claimed, most likely correctly, that the family was of Irish descent). No traces of the family (at least the way… Continue
